The DGFT released a new notification for new HSN Codes for technical textile items. There are 32 new codes for textiles under Chapters 39, 54, 55, 56, 59, 60, 62, 63, and 68 of ITC (HS) 2022 Schedule 1 (Import Policy).

It has been released concerning the PLI Scheme announced by the Ministry of Textiles for textiles including man-made fibres, commonly known as MMF. The scheme provides major attention to the technical textile areas to enhance growth.

It was noticed that even after having proper HS codes for technical textiles, import-export has not been booked under the correct HS Codes. This matter has also been reviewed in consultation with the Ministry of Textiles and it has been regurgitated that all the importers and exporters must file their Bill of Entry or Shipping Bill under the respective HSN code that is made available for Man Made Fibres and Technical Textiles under ITC (HS) 2022, Schedule 1 Import Policy at the level of 8 digits.

Moreover, to prevent the use of any other codes, a list of specific 32 HS Codes has been provided in Annexure-I to promote the industry and book import-export products under the correct category.
